Description
Hand-carved in Zimbabwe by artist Cuthbert Tendayi, from locally sourced serpentine stone.
Serpentine is one of Zimbabwe's most celebrated carving stones — found throughout the country in colors that range from deep black and earthy brown to rich green and dark orange, often variegated within a single piece. Artist Cuthbert Tendayi shapes each elephant entirely by hand, drawing on a multi-generational sculptural tradition that is internationally recognized for its expressive forms and deep connection to the natural world.
The elephant is a powerful symbol across African cultures — representing strength, dignity, patience, wisdom, and good fortune. A considered object for a bookshelf, a desk, or an entryway where a quiet sense of protection and presence feels right. No two pieces are exactly alike.
