Description

Hand-spun and handwoven in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from Ethiopian-grown cotton by a fair trade textile workshop.

The Zenach throw carries a traditional Ethiopian motif, the kind of pattern seen on cloth worn for special occasions. The cotton is spun by hand, dyed in small batches with eco-friendly dyes, and woven on large hand looms, then finished with a signature twisted fringe. Lightweight and versatile, it can dress a bed, keep you warm on the couch, or spread out as a picnic blanket.

Every step of its making supports the people behind it. The artisans earn above a living wage and receive annual health care stipends and ongoing training, and some spinners work from home so they can care for their families. The workshop runs on biogas and solar energy with net-zero emissions, treats its wastewater, and was the first facility in Africa to earn OEKO-TEX STeP Level 3 certification for sustainable textile production.

Details 100% Ethiopian cotton, hand-spun and handwoven. Dyed in small batches with eco-friendly dyes. Traditional Ethiopian motif with twisted fringe. Made by a fair trade enterprise in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Pairs with the matching Zenach pillow cover.

Care Wash gently in cold water and line dry to protect the hand-spun fibers. Avoid bleach, and smooth the fringe by hand while damp.
